The Death of The Corporate Job: Part 4 - The Generational Divide
Last month I published an article about the death of the corporate job. It went viral. 12,000 likes, 1,000 comments, my inbox flooded for days.
There was a pattern amongst the comments. People early in their careers felt validated. People approaching retirement felt attacked.
The defensive comments came in variations of the same message: “You’re describing my entire 28-year career as performance art.”
Yes. I am. But to understand why that lands differently for different generations, you need to understand what corporate work used to be.
