Not just a critical part of work, it's even more important in everyday life. Conversation that moves in a direction. As Joe Zawinul of Weather Report used to say, "We jam and we never jam."

Loved the analogy and loved this piece, mostly because it's where I'm at right now with my work situation. Thank you for having the right words and the right time.

Love this as Marley would say “We’re jammin”

Hell yes. I agree. I myself have always enjoyed conversations in this way. Building fluency by having these types of conversations with as many different perceptions and world views as possible. I also am a musician (that LOVES a good jam sesh), so the analogy resonates with me tremendously

Insightful but also depressing, because so few office meetings (I’ve been in) have been as productive as a good jam. The band James write all their songs as jam sessions. True collaboration. In office jobs there is always someone who can’t listen, someone who can’t follow, someone who has an agenda, someone who doesn’t say anything, someone who speaks gobbledeygook. Throw them all out and you’re jamming by yourself, again!
